Matina Kounelis

Matina received her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona in May of 2023, and has been working in the Katsanis lab since. Originally from San Diego, California, she fell in love with the desert during her undergraduate years and considers Tucson her second home. Currently, she is under the mentorship of Dr. Geovana Leite, who is currently working on various B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) models. Within this research, she hopes to further explore the development and treatment of Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD). Outside of the lab, she enjoys hiking, going to thrift stores, listening to music, and cooking.
