Mark Morrison is originally from Glasgow in Scotland where he completed his Bachelors in Sport & Exercise Science at Edinburgh Napier University in 2002. After graduating with honors, he worked as an exercise physiologist with Culture & Sport Glasgow. Mark moved to the US in 2009 to start his Masters in Kinesiology & Exercise Science at The University of Houston graduating in 2012. Soon after graduation he started working as Senior Exercise Physiologist at Houston Methodist in the Sport Performance and Orthopedic department where he established the human performance lab in Northwest Houston working with athletes doing VO2 max and lactate testing as well as metabolic testing for clients trying to lose weight or gain muscle. He also worked in cardiac rehab phase 2 and 3 at the hospital monitoring patients EKG, blood pressure, blood glucose if diabetic and helping with their recovery in a safe and controlled environment. After working at Houston Methodist for almost 6 years he established his own coaching business for endurance athletes where he did VO2 max and lactate testing and designed training programs for athletes based on exercise science and performance metrics over time. He also did local bootcamps and one on one personal training for clients. Mark got certified as a Health and Life coach at this time and worked with clients to improve their health holistically. Mark has a strong background in clinical exercise testing, research and exercise physiology and is excited to be a part of the Katsanis & Simpson Lab where he will be taking charge of exercise testing subjects in the lab and helping with ongoing research projects.
