Postdoctoral Research Associate

Geovana is originally from Elias Fausto, Brazil. She attended Federal University of Sao Paulo and received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology in 2010. She received her M.S. (2013) by Federal University of Sao Paulo working with Dr. Antunes at the Psychobiology Exercise Research Center and PhD (2021) from the University of Sao Paulo and working with Dr. Lancha Junior at the Nutrition and Metabolism applied to motors activity. During her masters, she studied the effects of exercise deprivation in addicted and non-addicted to exercise endurance athletes. Her research work was focused on possible alterations in mood, quality of life, sleep pathway and inflammatory markers induced by exercise deprivation. For her PhD, she coordinated a project aiming to investigate probiotic supplementation for marathon athletes and its implication in the gut microbiota and immune system. Her research work was focused on possible changes in gut permeability, microbiota composition, systemic inflammatory pathway and neutrophil activity induced by probiotic use. Geovana defended her doctorate in March 2021 and joined Dr. Katsanis’s lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in March 2023. Geovana currently has three major projects underway: (1) to investigate Memory like NK-cells and Anti-CD19 Drugs effects in B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemias (B-ALL), (2) to understand the effects of cytokine stimulation in PBMCs treat with Bendamustine (3), and to investigating the rule of exercise in B-cells Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia treatments.
