Varshini received her B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry at Arizona State University in 2022. During her undergrad, she worked in Dr. Blattman’s Lab at the Biodesign Institute Center of Immunotherapy, Virotherapy, and Vaccines. Her research focused on identifying the effects of the Mohawk gene (important in musculoskeletal development) on the immune response and memory after viral infection Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus (LCMV). Currently, she is an MD candidate at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson and is interested in specializing in pediatrics. She is excited to work at the Katsanis and Simpson Lab examining the effects of exercise on immune responses in pediatric and adolescent patients post bone marrow transplant.
